Whidbey Home Remodel & Repair is the brainchild of owner Mike Napoli. He saw a need in the community for island-based expertise combined with mainland savvy all done with authentic Whidbey friendliness. He also saw a need for a contractor adept at redesigns and remodels who’s equally happy to take on the small stuff — he’ll make service calls for beeping alarms or lightbulbs too high to change. Quality work done in a timely manner is priority number one. Yes, Mike knows exactly what “timely manner” means, and he delivers.

Mike has spent years narrowing down his team of subcontractors, designers and specialists. He has their back, they have his. “A bunch of brothers from different mothers,” he calls them. Just like with his customers, communication is key between Mike and his guys. Outside of reliability and integrity, what’s the main thing he looks for? Great people skills. “What a great group of guys!” is one of the most common comments Mike gets from customers.

A key differentiator for Mike is his level of planning. If you’re not one who likes to just wing-it, he may not be the contractor for you. Thorough, painstaking planning, while time-consuming, is the benchmark of a job done well and on time. Good planning builds in time for weather, for anticipating commonly encountered issues, even for the unforeseen. Great plans equal great results, period.

In the initial meeting, some important things are going to happen. First is answering the question: “Do we like each other?” Compatibility is key for Mike, as some jobs mean a lot of time spent together, often in each other’s space. Mike is friendly, open and a straight shooter. He’ll take your ideas, look at them from every angle, ask questions, throw a few of his own ideas in the mix, make sure everyone’s on the same page. And then he’ll plan. He’ll even put together a 3-D rendering of the job for a virtual “walk-through.”
